Amazon in partnership with Fred Hutchinson for the cancer vaccine trial

Digital giant amazon after years of success in the product and service domain is now heading towards the medical development sector. Amazon has collaborated with Fred Hutchinson cancer research center to develop cancer vaccines in a new clinical trial. These vaccines are specifically being developed to treat various forms of cancer such as those related to breast and skin.

Amazon has been very closely associated with medical development for a lot of years now. The company launched its first-ever pharmacy in the year 2020 and paved the way for a telehealth service in the name of amazon care and also made a vital contribution during the time of the COVID pandemic by launching its own covid-19 tests.

The first phase of the cancer vaccine trial is expected to begin in November 2023. This trial will study the safety of personalized vaccines to treat patients that are suffering from late-stage melanoma, positive HER2, negative breast cancer, hormone receptor, etc. This trial will also be open for patients where cancer has spread to other parts of the body or in cases where medication is not being accepted by the body.

Even though there is no guarantee from both the parties i.e. amazon and the Fred Hutchinson cancer research center for the functionality of this vaccine, the fact remains that the success of this vaccine can not just improve but also save the lives of thousands of people all over the world. As the company’s spokesperson said: “ this will be a long, multi-year process-should it progress, we would be open to working with other organizations in health care and life sciences that might also be interested in similar
efforts”.
